sound problems

Hi, I have just installed windows XPPRO on my computer. I downloaded window's media player9. When I tried to play music an error appeared saying"WMPcannot play this file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your PC,it may be there is another program using it, or it may not be functioning properly"
error ID:OXCOOD11BA
I went to volume control there are no active devices avalible.
I do have a sound card and speaker's which worked perfectly well before I installed XP PRO.
Can anyone help me with this problem I would appreciate .........thank you ,pink.

Sounds like you need to find an updated driver for your soundcard/sound devices. A lot of peripherals weren't supported by XP originally, and as such require new drivers to be installed. Try that. Hope it helps.

i agree with what pink_rose said, you might wanna try the sound card manufacturers website to find the latest or new drivers for it.
