disk boot failure
when i start up my computer i get this message "disk boot failure" when i boot from the windows XP cd it won't let me go into repair or install, it says "setup can't find installed hard drives" or something similar. in the bios the IDE primary master and primary slave don't seem to be there. it says "none" and auto detect doesn't find them. i recently had a problem with my C drive, it wouldn't start up. that's what got me into this whole mess. i installed windows on my D drive (i have a partition for these occasions) to try save some of my files from my C drive which i planned to format and re-install windows onto. i wonder if maybe my D drive hasn't been made the primary partiton? i lost the MBR? but i can't get into fdisk or diskpart to change that. does anyone know what i can do?
