Help! Applets failing to load, System Restore + Help and Support not loading...

Hi there,
I have recently been experiencing a number of problems with my computer, and I am extremely confused to why it is happening...

Firstly I cannot access certain websites, for example, it wont let me onto the Windows Update website at all. Other websites that I can access dont load properly, eg. some of the icons that are required to access parts of the websites dont load at all.

Also, when trying to repair this problem, Help and Support failed to load on my computer, as well as System Restore. No response or anything from the computer at all!

Even loading Norton Systemworks doesn't work, I double click on the icon, and again, no response. Also, Windows Media Player fails to load, giving the error message "An Internal Application Error has occured"

Does anyone have a clue as to what has happened to my computer, and any solutions that may be able to help me???
