Some apps won't run with HT enabled...

I've run across a few apps that will not launch as long as hyperthreading is enabled...so I then have to reboot, go into bios and turn off HT and then it runs with no problem.
I know of others who run these same apps without ever have to disable HT.
When I try to run one of these apps (i.e. QuickSFV, a winrar archive verifier) I instantly get the 'app is experiencing trouble and needs to close' followed by the send error report prompt.

Have asked several of my friends who know more than myself about windows...no luck. Any ideas or suggestions?

Also...what would cause XP not to remember/retain the view settings for my folders? Yes, the option is enabled btw...lol.
Thx.

My setup...

Windows XP Professional
2.6c P4 @ 3.32GHz
Gigabyte 1000Pro 865PE Mobo
2x256MB Corsiar XMS3200C2 @ 2-3-2-6
Sapphire 9600XT 128MB
