Enable/Disable Long Pathnames ???

I am having trouble installing a program. The error message tells me that it cannot install because I have "long pathnames disabled, to continue installation, enable long pathnames". I am using Windows XP Pro. Can anyone tell me how I can enable long pathnames in XP Pro?
