PC keeps freezing

I had a problem with my pc where it when it booted up it froze straight away and i couldn't access anything on my computer, i have since reinstalled windows and it seems to have worked but if I have more than five windows open it'll freeze. Sometimes it freezes randomly. I cant even access task manager. I'm running Win XP Pro SP1. If anyone has any idea's it would be greatly received.
