XP fails to load

HI,

My system is getting to the log-in stage of Win Xp and then once I have clicked a user profile it is taking about 30 seconds to load user settings and then it just goes to the desktop screen (no icons etc) and freezes. I have opened in safe mode and added a new user profile but this does the same. it has been fine for ages and this just seems to have happened out of the blue as I haven't added any software for a while.

Any ideas?

I had simmilar problems witn Win2K freezing so I upgraded hardware and went to WinXP. After 1 week reinstalling software I had the same problems return.

I was pointed to www.badcaps.com where I found out that my old ABit VP6 motherboard had bad capacitors and described all the problems I was having (and that sounds simmilar to your problem).

Check it out to see if your motherboard is listed. Potentially you may have a hardware issue with bad capacitors.
