Exclamation Update Problems

I just recently setup a new install of WinXP Pro and I get this error (Error number: 0x80248011) when ever I try to run the update program. It says that Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page does anybody know how to fix this?

PS. I do not have service pack 2 installed!

Go to "Windows update" > other options (on the left) > help & support > Windows update troubleshooter.

Type in your question (key words) as well as scroll down the list.

The solution posted was direct from Microsoft.

I just wanted to clarify that. I have run into problems with Microsoft update in the past but not that exact problem. I have been able to correct all problems by researching them at Microsoft. Patience is a big requesite at there site however.

If you take the time look you'll see that all updates can be manually downloaded from microsoft (not from the updates page) and then installed the same as installing any software. This will work as a "work around" atleast until you resolve the problem.
