My ATI CAT application will not execute..please help!

Hello

I have a Dell 8200 system with windows XP.

I have an ATI 9800pro card whch I update the drivers for regularly. I saw that the latest CAT4.8 driver was realesed from www.ati.com so downloaded them. I uninstalled the old ones, unistalled the ATI control panel (the same way I have done many times before) then went to run the latest driver I had downloaded.

When I double click/press enter/ select run on the icon , the little egg timer appears for a fraction of a second then disappears, and nothing else happens. I checked some older files form previous CAT realeses and they don’t work either.

I restores my PC to a few days back before I downloaded CAT 4.8 but my old CAT files still wont run.

I just don’t understand whats going on, why are the ATI display driver files not starting but everything else does.

It doesnt matter how I uninstalled my old drivers, basically when I want to run the CAT 4.8 application file (or any other previousy downloaded version that I have used before) it should run the program.

I have the CD with the 4.1 driver that came with the 9800card, it runs and installs ok but it uses a different type of instal. My friend is copying the file onto CD to see if it runs off a CD, have to wait and see on that one.

Anyone any idea why I have this problem with the CAT files only, Im starting to tear my hair out
