Lightbulb RESREDIR.ASP missing, a vital file apparently. What to do?!

Dear ForumRiders,

not much after the first time I ran Spybot S&D and fixed all entities indicated as dangerous, the computer said that the system had recovered from a severe injury. When I closed this window there came another, saying:

Windows doesn't find file 'http://oca.microsoft.com/resredir.asp?sid=11& ...'

(continues in a long row of numbers and letters). Each time I closed this the cycle started again and again (about the serious injury and the missing file alert). It's been going on like thise since that time.

What file can it be? Is it important? And how can I get it back?

Please, tell me if you have any idea. Thank you in advance.

http://oca.microsoft.com/resredir.asp?sid=11& ...

It would be advisable to post the 'error message' in its entirety...

Yes, Jazz, maybe, though the name of the unfound file is a bit different every time, I guess because it's the result of some searching by the computer which the message shows.

Now the name of the file goes as

After that it also asks me

to check if I wrote in the name of the file correctly and to try the search again
(though the first time the message came out I didn't search anything at all!).

Finally it proposes that to seek a file I should click the Start button, then the Search option.

I hope this helps.

P.S.: the original error message is not in English that's why I rephrased it.

The following procudure you must consider and perform at your own risk, as it appears to be the most logical thing to do, IMO.

Open Spybot S&D 1.3 and click Restore under the Spybot S&D heading.

When the Recovery list is populated, right click the first item and select 'Select all items older than 30 days' and then select 'Purge selected items'.

I would advise you to make a System Restore point prior to doing the above, although I do not personally use System Restore. As such, naturally, I cannot guarantee that System Restore will be successful.

Another thing to consider would be to backup important data, information, school/university/work projects, etcetera. This you should do as a matter or course anyway. Now is as good a time as any.

Taking into consideration my initial paragraph, good luck.........

Dear Jazz,

There were no items in Spybot S&D older than 30 days, but I made a System Restore and now there is no such alert message any more so far.. I'm happy about it and I hope it will remain like this.

You are right, it's time for me to complete the backing up of important material.

Thanks for your advice,

All the Best,

diumka
