winXP sp2 included freezes !!!!

my sistem xp2000+ , 512ddr samsung pc 2700, ati radeon 9500 128 ddr 256 bit . THE PROBLEM : ...appeared when i first installed the "magic" SP2 who has mplayer 9 included ,{ i have the latest drivers catalist 4.8 , dx 9 b , codecs that used to work (also tried other codecs) ..} when playing a movie , avi file , the image freezes ..and the soung go on okay...if i close the application who run the movie (mplayer9 , mplayer 2, bsplay...etc) when i press end task ...windows Freezes !!! ...and i have to press reset i really dont know what s happening...i tried allmost everything.... pls help me !!!! so the error is quit simple : when video streaming starts .... it FREZEES to death ....
