FTP Protecting Files, Windows XP Home

How can I really set certain files I am going to make available over FTP read only? I was using bulletproof FTP server a while ago and someone notified me that they still were able to rename/delete files on my server. I tested this on another computer to prove this to be true. Also, I was amazed to see that even when I did not have BulletProof FTP Server running they were still able to access my FTP and download/delete files. I am using Win XP Home..any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The ftp is probably running as a service on your pc, you would need to have this set as manual process if you only want it to be ran when you actually start the ftp server instead of being loaded when your pc starts.

and you need to check your root permissions on the ftp folder you have set, you probably have read/write/delete set at the top.
