SP2 use or lose it?
Hi gurus!
I haven't installed SP2 on my PC because I am a little reluctant. When I installed SP1 I had all sort of problems and I preferred to install the updates one by one manually.
To those who have installed SP2 what kind of "reaction" is your PC having?
Basically has your computer improved with SP2 do you notice it to be significantly better in terms of speed, features and security or is it about the same?
thanks in advance for any replies!

Personally, I will not be installing SP2 for at least six months to a year. Even if I did decide to install it, it would be on a test system for evaluation purposes.
If you decide to install SP2, I would advise you to backup all critical and important data, etcetera, and slipstream SP2 with XP. Then fdisk the drive and install that way.......

Guess I'm very lucky..I installed SP2 from the automatic update..everything installed ok and I have noticed very little difference. It did delete all the past updates , the only thing showing is SP2. I believe most of the troubles are attributed to what programs you have on your computer..I have some games , Flight Simulator etc.. with no problems. JAZZ is probabley correct..if in doubt, wait awhile and they will clean it up.

I have not tried SP2 yet, but will be installing it soon. I have removable hard drive bays and several hard drives that I have installed: Windows XP, 2000 pro & server, 98, 2003. You may ask why so many. How else does one learn, but by using all these OS's. Also have one with Linux. I think lots of the problems associated with SP2 are from non-experienced users. That includes some people who are running networks that probably shouldn't be. For example, I read about one network administrator who installed SP2 on his network of 300 computers and then when he couldn't get it to work, asked how to remove it. Why would anyone install SP2 on their network without proper testing? I will let you know how my experience goes when I install SP2 on my test Window XP machine. I also know that SP2 is far from perfect, but that’s another topic.

SP2 Usage Report
I put SP2 on my notebook the day it came out. I can't say that it runs any faster, but, the few changes I did notice, I liked. The wireless networking interface is very nice. If you aren't up to speed on configuring your wireless, this is a nice feature. Additionally, the "pop-up blocking" function appears to work fairly well, only that it attempts to block any type of window opening up, including webmail windows.....easy enough to allow it though. An issue I did see, however, was the firewall seems to automatically install, might be problematic in a domain situation, going to test it on a couple of workstations next week and see how many problems occur.

Had sp2 on for about a month now. No real probs/clashes to date....
1 or 2 little niggles...
* The new security centre does nor recognise my Norton 2003...no bigggie.
* a little more concerning is the list of programs in "Add/Remove Programs" has altered. Appears I only get "A"s now instead of the full alphabetical list.????
Otherwise I'm quite happy with it.
