Favourites Folder within Favourites won't go away...

Right, it seems that SP2 has put a new annoyance within IE and that is the Favourites folder that won't go away no matter how many times you delete it. Before SP2 it was the Links folder that wouldn't go away but that was easily solved with a quick registry alteration (I.E. Delete the Bast*rd). However, it doesn't seem as if the option to permanently delete the Favourites folder exists.

Does anyone know? Mind bogglingly annoying

I'm on SP2 and I don't have that folder in my IE6 "Favorites". So I suggest that it is not SP2 that is causing this. What is in that folder ?? Maybe you have a rogue BHO which is generating it ??

Nothing is in the Folder, it's just like the Links folder you automatically get with IE. I have used Spybot and Adaware to try and get rid of it and it just doesn't budge. If I rename it, the thing just creates a new Favourites folder (Spelt Favorites).

It's a real impairment, and being an UBER perfectionist with this thing is not easy.

Try this method: -

Click Favorites menu in IE > Click Organize Favorites > Right click on the Favorites Folder and select Properties > Select the Hidden checkbox > Select Apply changes to this folder, subfolders, and files if appears > Right click on the Links Folder again > Select Delete.

Close IE, reboot if necessary, and reopen IE. It should not re-appear, he hopes! LOL

I spoke too soon I rebooted and it wasn't there, I was browsing around for about 30 minutes and it still wasn' t there and then it bloody well came up again! Why oh why!

There is nothing in the IE registry to indicate that this file even exists, I can't understand what it could possibly be. My IE is totally free of spyware and any other malicious material and it all started when I installed SP2.

If you have any further problems, try my method again, but this time, delete the folder from Favourites in Windows Explorer, as follows, presuming C is your HDD: -

C:\Documents and Settings\PANDA\Favorites. Naturally, I have substituted PANDA with your username. Don't forget, Favorites will be a hidden folder, so you have to enable hidden files and folders in your Search.

Now I have to think of some other things that are annoying me, luckily SP2 has proved annoyance free apart from that bl**dy b*st*rd favourites folder so Hmmmmm...
