click start, then right click the "my computer" link, select properties froom the context menu that comes up. on the system properties page you will see the windows version for example
Microsoft windows xp
professional
version 2002
service pack 2
it will show the service pack version, if no service pack is listed, you dont have one
microsoft has millions of people updating to sp2, be patient, you will get it. early morning is the best time to get it.

It freezes while waiting for the download to start from Microsoft? If so, it could be the fact that Microsoft has been swamped with downloads for SP2. Give it a while, a couple of days, and then try it again.

No biggie Rann_03.

Order the CD from here at no charge direct from M$: -

Order Windows XP Service Pack 2 on CD

FYI, MSKBA 842773 is as follows: -

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 842773

Update package that includes Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) version 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 is available for Windows XP
