Add New Hardware getting wonky

Have a really odd onehere for y'all....

Have a system running XP Professional SP1 on a Intel 850EMV2 motherboard. Had the system's DVD-ROM drive go out on it, so bit the bullet and bought a new DVD Burner (NEC ND-2510A).

IDE Bus Config:

Primary bus:

Master: Lite-On LDW-811S DVD-RW drive
Slave: Plextor PXW-1180A CD/RW drive

Secondary Bus:
Master:NEC ND-2510A DVD Burner (hey, it was cheap!)

Now, every time the system boots it tries to install a driver for the Secondary IDE Channel and requyesting a reboot. Looking in Device Manager, the secondary channel is disabled. I can manually enable it, and it works fine then, at least until a reboot - at which point it's rinse-and-repeat time. Have reinstalled both the chipset drivers AND the Intel drivers that came with the system - to no avail. Same with downloading new ones from the Web - no go. My hard drives run of a Promise IDE controller and work fine - no issues there. Any ideas? ('Sides, I've got FOUR entries in the Device Manager database for the Intel bus now - any way to purge 'em?)
