Check System Health !

Hello,

First my System Specs:

AMD Athlon XP 3000+
1 gig DDR Ram
GeForce 4 Ti 4800SE 128 MB DDR (56.72 drivers)
Soundblaster PCI 128
80 gig Maxtor HD
Gigabyte Motherboard
Windows XP Home (Service Pack 1)
DirectX 9b

I think that's everything, sorry if I don't put everything, but I am very new to PC's and do not understand very well (due to personal health Problems)

OK the problem is that if I boot up for the first time each day and then each time I restart after that on the very first boot screen, where it say's Check System Health, next to that I have a "!" sign, I used to have it saying OK, now it does'nt..........I had this before with my old system, but turning off System Restore, seemed to solve it, now however it does'nt

I have installed all updates, and that has not helped.

I have'nt gone for the Service Pack 2 yet as I have been told its still new and has'nt been tested thoroughly yet, and I'd rather not be a guinea pig as I am primarily a gamer and just want to get on with what I like best, as quick as I can

It may seem like a trivial complaint/problem, but it does annoy me as it was once ok, and now I can't shift the ! sign

I was just about to post this and I noticed that in the dxdiag screen under the diaplay tab, it has the following:

DirectDraw Acceleration: Enabled
Direct3D Acceleration: Enabled
AGP Texture Acceleration: Not Available (could this be the problem? I really have no idea why this is saying that)

I hope someone can help me please.

The message is telling you that there is a problem in the hardware monitoring section of BIOS.
Usually this relate to the CPU fan

Check your bios settings

Example
Sstem fan warning enabled
having this enabled without a system fan can cause this
switching to just CPU fan warning

Hello,

Well I just got my Computer back from being upgraded and the guy told me that it was getting very hot, something I complained about before, so he has put in a few extra things namely:

Arctic Cooling
High Velocity System Blower
Cooling Fan (under my Graphics card I believe)

I do have another big fan on top of my Motherboard.

In the Bios where I have the System Fan warning and CPU fan warning, these two are both enabled, is it safe to do what you suggest?

I know what your saying, but is this error, going to cause me trouble at somepoint, or is it harmless?

Cheers

Try diabling the system fan warning
check to see if you get the exclamation point
this will at least tell you if that is the problem then go back and enable the system fan warning.
