gif files wont animate as desktop wallpaper

hi there, i'm rather new to windows xp and need some help please.

when i set an animated gif image as my desktop wallpaper the wallpaper remains unmoving. can anyone help me to fix this?

Open IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Multimedia > (check box for) Play animations in web pages > Apply > Ok.

Then select your gif for the desktop and it should be animated.
