Web pages do not fill screen

I am running Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2 installed. I recently purchased a HP laptop with a 17" screen. My question: When I open some web pages they are either centered on the screen or positioned to the left. They do not spread to fill the screen. The fonts are also very small. Is there a way to configure so they open to the full screen? And my prompt or dialog boxes are very small. Any way to solve this? Thanks for any help!!!!

sounds like your screen resolution
right click your desktop and select properties
select settings tab
Adjust the screen area slider to 800 x 600 pixels
click apply

The screen size depends on what looks best to you so try different screen area sizes until you find the one you like.

i had this problem and solved it by dragging the page to full size using those little arrow thingys that appear at the corners and sides of the page....,then clicked on file, then click close,.... and when the page is reopened "hey presto" problem solved.

oh yeah and my eyes arent the best, ...so to get the text bigger and easier to read i clicked on view then text size and picked a larger size..dead easy try it

The above post is right. Only have 1 and only 1 web page open, drag it to the top left and then use the arrows to extend in the bottom right corner. Works good.
