Problems with Nvidia 40.xx and 41.xxx drivers

Does anybody else have this problem with the 40.xxx and 41.xxx Nvidia Offical drivers?

Even when I install these drivers on a bare bones XP system (with no previous drivers versions installed), I get an error when I try an go into the Nvidia tab on the Properties box. Also, I seemed to get really bad graphics corruption in Half-Life OpenGL.

I know there is a utility you can download which fixes this error, which I have done, but I still get the graphics problems, and to me the 30.82 just seem plain better- has anybody actually noticed any imrovements / better stability etc with these drivers

At the moment I am still using the 30.82's as I cannot get these new 40.xx series drivers to work properly....and advice or suggestions?

Thanks!
