Angry Removed Search Taskbar and now XP wont load

I have had the unwanted Search toolbar load up on my task bar whenever I load Windows XP. This problem seems to be associated with the 3 icons shown for the Quick Launch and always loads even when I change them each time XP loads.

I did a virus scan and found a virus and it seemed to be associated. It told me to do a number of things, including manual removal of 3 files called "omni" something using Explorer (which I couldn't do cause they were in use). It also told me to remove 3 keys in the registery, so I removed the folder (?). It also said to add/remove the program Windows SA.

Wow when I load my computer, it logs out straight away and I can't do anything, I can't even load in safe mode. My thinking is that when it comes to "generate the task bar", it can't do it anymore cause I've removed the registery files.

HELP!!

You didn't delete the run folder from the registry did you?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

That path seems familiar although I can't remember the exact path, although the path ended on a file (folder?) named something like {83ED23642789354}. I'm pretty certain it started with 83ED. The instructions for removal of the file were in Nortons and although I can't remember the name of the virus, it was Adaware? I spewing I didn't write down the name, then I could tell you exactly what I removed. The virus did have something to do with omni? And I had to Add/Remove the Windows SA program.

Do you think the files I removed affected the run folder?
How would I go about fixing the registry if I can't access Windows?

Thanks in anticipation

What you did or didn't do doesn't matter now
The problem now is getting your pc up and running
If you can't stat in safe mode or normal mode

did your pc come with restore cd's?

The steps to repair the registry are in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article, How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting if you want to go that route. Otherwise, follow bbeard67's advice to do a repair install.
