Talking Passwords in XP Home

First of all, I came here through windowsxpforums.com and I'm a newbie. Is the site in anyway affiliated with Microsoft?

Now, is it possible to have a password authentication prompt enabled when the someone wants to use a computer, and it is already on and loggon on to an account.

For instance, the screensaver is on, and instead of displaying the user accounts, it will display a prompt for a password until you can get it, as in with Windows 98?

Nope.

Right click the desktop > Properties > Under Screen Saver tick "On Resume, password protect".

It doesn't say that.

All it says is:

On resume, display Welcome Screen

Actually, I am on XP Pro and it had the "On resume, display Welcome Screen"

In order to make it say "On resume, password protect"

Go to Control Panel

User Accounts

Click on "Change the way users log on or off "

Uncheck "use the welcome screen"

Now your option for screensavers will be "On Resume, password protect"

Yep, its one or the other. If you have a password for your logon though, I believe then if you have it set to go to the Welcome Screen on screensaver, they still have to type a password.

Only if a user has the password prompt option selected for his account.
