Windows XP problem

hey everyone yesteday while i was listenin to music the laptop monitor just went white while the music was carrying on playing. I turned it off and rebooted but it was still white. I turned it on this morning and it seemed fine but after a couple of minutes the white swallowed up the screen again. Does any1 know what to do?
