Help!

I am getting "\winnt\system32\config\system" message when trying to boot up...The message continues "you can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup cd-rom. select 'r' at the first screen to start repair."

I cannot get past this screen.

Any ideas?

You have to 'boot' your computer with the XP CD, with your BIOS set to boot from CD-ROM.
Are you doing that?

I do not get "boot from cd" when getting to windows advanced options menu...

choices i do get are:

safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt
enable boot logging
enable vga mode
last known good configuration
directory services restore mode
debugging mode
start windows normally
reboot
return to OS choices menu

'Boot from CD' is not an option.

It is something you have to set up your computer to do, so
that it boots from the CD instead of the hard disk.
Then you can run the repair process.

Do you understand how to make the system boot from the XP CD?
