2 OS on ONE machine

toshiba satallite pro (laptop)
512 MB
40 GB
1.44 MHZ
Windows XP PRO

ok well i had a problem booting up from the XP PRO cd while i was trying to reinstall the whole operating system. It didnt boot off of the XP cd so i installed Windows 2000 and then i was going to put XP on. after i got 2000 on there i tried doing a clean install of XP PRO but it wouldnt let me delete any partitions. and for some reason i now have both windows 2000 and XP pro on the machine...how do i just have xp pro and have it a clean one?

the partitions say

C: Partition1 38100 MB (something like that)
Unpartitioned 8 MB

it wont let me delete either of them

if any one could help THANKS

Your post puzzles me. You have only one hard disk partition (C) so ther's no way you can have 2 Operating Systems on it. How do you know Win2K is still on it?

From what I've read and seen it is possible to have 2 or more on the same partition, although it's highly not recommended.

Using the XP disc you will be able to see the partition and delete it, followed up by formatting. You can then start fresh.

I run both 2000 and XP Pro on the same machine, but on different partitions.

Follow the link below and read carefully, there is all you need to know found within.
