hi flipgoddess. albert arayata sent an email about your problem. can you contact me through my site?
www.gaildelacruz.com. just use the contact form in the "Train Pass" link.
you can try choosing "last known good configuration." there's a chance it might work. if it goes to the desktop, do a system restore. choose a date when you're sure it's working well.
you know what... if you really want to solve this problem fast, just do a CLEAN reinstall. DO NOT OVERWRITE YOUR EXISTING OS. use the DEBUG code (if don't have it, tell me and i'll give it to you) to reset your drive to its default settings, plug-in the windows xp cd (choose extended NTFS at the format screen), and just reinstall your software.

that is, if you really don't have critical files in it. there are some who don't think DEBUG is necessary, but if you want to be 100% sure to wipe out your drive, this is the best way to go.
once you do that, windows should be using the native drivers. if it gives you a crappy resolution, that's when you'll have to reinstall the video drivers, but it will definitely show your desktop regardless of which.
portables usually have a software recovery cd and windows installation disk. do you still have those?
just contact me if you have questions. i think i encountered something like this when i was working as tech support.
