others/cannot install stuff

This is what i get when i try to install NVDVD/Battlefield 1942/and some other software.

An installation file could not be installed"

"Castrophic failer"

First time installing XP
- Comp fine for few days, got some ad ware or whatever all those crap are called now. Few days later, Blue screen, restared comp, Xp gives options -> normal mode/safe mode/ etc (i choose normal mode), XP loaded fine and everything ok. Next day, boot up computer, XP takes me to blue screen says alot of stuff and too fast to read, XP reboot itself, after reboot xp cannot get into my log in (screen black after XP loads), Someone tells me the easiest way for a clean install because i have Raid-0 is delete array and create a new one, i took advice and everything ok.

Second Time installing XP
I dunno if im seeing things but after deleting array and creating a new one is it taking away my Hard drive compacity? Or is windows reading it weird.
SPECS: 2x WD Raptors 36.7 Gigs each on RAID 0 = 73.4 gigs =
Windows reads 68.9 GB Capacity o_0?
Is that correct? or is it adding on to my 1st and 2nd
Create Array? Im lost too..
All installation succesful, i installed via 4in1 driver (newest ver.), NVIDIA drivers (NEWEST ver.), Gigabit LAN drivers, Sound drivers, Halflife/mods/STEAM. Used Asus Bios update uitility to flash in xp mode because it could.
Research online, then came ad ware crap, it invaded me. I have a Ad ware program somewhere in comp, I knoe that it starts up when my comp starts, it has no file name because i looked it up using MSCONFIG on RUN. It can Duplicate itself when i try to stop it from starting up, AD aware SE/Spybot/ etc cant dectect it. And its still running as i type loL. Wouldnt want it to dup it self all over. Next day(s) try playing LOTR dvd on comp, it says i have no decoder/ shouldnd XP have one installed already? Tried installed NVDVD but says

"An installation file could not be installed"
"Castrophic failure"

Tried installed Battle Field 1942 but says:

"An installation support file could not be installed"
"Castorphic failure"

Now i do not know what to do.. Delete then Create another array, petition for reformat <-- I dunno how to do it at all. Or somehow fix it. Anybody know how? loL

it's probably a good idea to stay away from sites that insist on crippling your pc. infact, you can get infected in seconds just by being online without protection.

also, if scripting is active, you're asking for trouble.
only enable scripting on sites you trust, and then only if it's necessary. otherwise, you run the risk of being compromised.

of course, a decent net security suite would also help.

and yes, the capacity windows displays is correct. the remaining disk space is reserved by windows.

Just to answer your specific question about DVD Player software.
XP does not have the necessary decoder as standard. You have to add the decoder to WMP (not free) or install a standalone player.
