Unable to logon to Windows XP

Hoping that someone can give me some help on this.

My computer will boot up, and come to the logon screen. When I click on my user profile, its says "logging on", the screen flashes, then it immediately says "logging off", then "saving user settings". It remains at the logon screen.

If I try to logon in safe mode, I have the additional option of Administrator, but get the same result. "Last known good" configuration does not help either.

I cannot get into windows at all! Please help! Prior to this happening I had run the most recent version of Ad-Aware and rebooted several times without problem'

Question

Oh my God, can somebody please post with advice, the exact thing happened to me today and now i cant even use my computer.

I've got XP and I had been noticing a lot of errors happening, and around the time these errors started happening, pop up ads and new toolbars persistantly annoyed me and slowed down my computer. i also had a rundll32 error as i shut down, so i downloaded ad-aware and deleted many spyware programs with it, leaving my computer running beautifully, with none of the previous errors and internet explorer seemed to be operating quicker too.

Then i rebooted the computer to find that the name i usually login to XP with was replaced with 'Owner' and it wouldn't log me in (see above post). It also tells me that i have 5 unread emails in a hotmail account belonging to a friend of mine who checked his email on my computer a few days ago. i should also add that as the sole user of my computer, when i usually boot up, its does not ask me to log in, but goes straight to the desktop. What has happened?!!!

So now all my comp can do is boot up, display a blue screen and shut down, very frustrating, can anybody help?!!!

hi, the problem is that if you cant log on at all you cant run any thing to clean out the pc and getting a blue screen is real serious (blue screen of death) as its known, sometimes you have to bite the bullit and format the drive but ive been lucky with boot cds in the past which enable you to run virus and spyware scanners but there you go,good luck,im off to work.
