FireWire 1394 CardBus PC Card driver problems

Ok i bought this for my laptop to hookup my ipod to because my laptop was only usb 1.1 or whatever.

OK so it comes with no driver and after contacting the manufacturer, Koutech, I learned they provide no driver for Windows XP OS. They said Windows should recognize it automatically.

Well it didn't and I had it search on windows update site and I also pulled out my original Microsoft Windows CD and still got nothing.

I'm just lost and unsure what to do so any help is greatly greatly appreciated.

if you have service pack 1 installed(sp2 same difference) the driver should be ready to go. go to your device manager and the firewire card should have a yellow ! next to it, right click it and select properties, then click the driver tab then select the update driver button. it should find the driver and install it. xp does not always install usb 2.0 and 1394 automatically, you have to give it a push.

i'm sorry i should have been more specific, my fault.

I tried that several times to update the driver after it failed to install by right clicking the "unknown device" and going to "update driver"

SP1 is installed, not SP2.


maybe the driver could be located via Microsoft somehow, i really don't know

the site you posted for your card has a driver download link, may want to try installing it with one of them..
