scandisk automatic convert folder to file---recoverable??? HELP!!!

Hi,

When scandisk goes on to check for a drive's "consistency" before windows
loads, it found a folder it doesn't like and says it found an
error and will convert it into a file (there was question Y/N, but it answered without my acceptation)

folder was around 9gb. The file that scandisk made converting the folder is only 32kb?! (strange!). I hoped that it was maybe hidden or something, but there's nothing, i've searched whole disk, checked it with Norton Commander under DOS, even tried to use some recovery tools for deleted files and still nothing, folder seems to disappear(but where?), but the 9gb seems to still be on the disk.

if anyone can help and tell me is that any way to recover this folder or delete it (to get this 9gb space back)
would be greatly appreciated

thank you and PLEASE HELP!!!

Tengel

could be the system restore folder, if you have a large drive windows may be using a lot of disk space. if you have not cleaned it up often it could be quite bloated. you can run disk cleanup and select the more options tab and clean up the sys restore, or turn off system restore and then back on which will delete it's cache. temp folders can get pretty full also, and being they are seen as system folders and files are not going to stick out when you hunt for the space hogs.
