my comp will not boot up,HELP.

a few days back i was installing some cd writing software on my comp when somthing came up asking to install or write over direct x ,or driverx not quite sure wich ones . well anyway i clicked ok and bang a few clicks and flashes on my monitor and since then it will not boot up all i can get is the bios menu screen and another screen with a picture of a gold medal with ribbon with qda on it. i have been given 6 xp home boot up floppys and told that if i enter them in order 1-6 my comp should boot up ,then i should put my comp in safe mode do a system restore back to a date before i messed up . can anyone tell me if this is correct and do i just enter the floppys and follow instructions or do ineed to uderstand dos to boot up this way .thanks for any help .

try this first.
power on the computer, tap the F8 key constantly and see if it brings up the boot menu with the safe mode option. if you do get to safe mode and your system restore was still active see if you can use it to go back to a date before you installed the cd burning software.
just curious what burning software was it and the version...may be a known conflict and a patch someone will help you find.
