can no longer acsess the internet with xp

after having problems with boot up on xp, wich ive now fixed by using the 6 floppy xp discs and repairing windows. i can no longer get online with dial up or broadband .windows will not letter me enter a dial up number and keeps on saying not connected with broadband everthing hardware wise seems to be ok there just dosnt seem to be a path way for a connectoin. i have also lost windows s pack 1 aswell could that be a problem .if i get s pack 2 and load it in will that be ok or do i need s pack 1 aswell thanks for any help i need it.

connection correctly.

Try going into the control panel > Network connections.

Uninstall TCP/IP and reinstall, make sure all IP stuff is set to DHCP.

You will always lose your microsoft updates especially service packs after a repair of XP..So nothing wrong with that to ease your mind there mate.

after i go down to add number manualy screen the first 2 options are greyed out ass if they have been disabelld and it only offers me a broadband connection with ive tried to use but it will not work .is there a reason wy the first 2 options are greyed out and how can i alter it thanks
