Unhappy Need expert blue screen help please

Hello -------- I am brand new to this forum.............

I would like to start by saying I really dislike windows xp! and even my brand new computer! But I will try and remain calm..

Sorry, If I seem harsh. But Im averaging 5 blue screen crashes an hour.

here is one error.

Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 805e93ac, parameter3 edd20c3c, parameter4 00000000.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

( what is this link? nothing there! )

I THINK THIS IS WHAT IM SUPPOSED TO NOTE, CORRECT? ( i just figured out where to find this info from reading the board here ) However, the blue screen info looks different every time.

Anyway I have a long frustration of trying to use computers. I wanted to get into video editing as a possible career, and have suffered through win 98 problems, / me problems
and now into xp problems

I have had a couple systems - all rife with problems. Xp pro installs last literally a couple days, then blue screens of death.
this is on several systems.

I can NEVER get any productive work done. Just fixes, and tries.
Anway I went to Opera browser recently - is that my problem?

SO,

IM WRITING THIS ON a BRAND NEW LAPTOP - ht 3.2 800 bus, drivers all updated, 80 gig driver. service pack 1, right.

WORKED GREAT FOR FIRST 3 months - xp home pre installed.
Then started blue screens. I clean installed over home to Pro.
blue screens getting worse!

TAKE INTO TECH YESTERDAY.

I usually am very frustrated with these people, then can NEVER find the problem.

1. He says probably bad hard drive. ( I can't leave laptop with him, 'cause forgot power cord)

2. I ask him to test ram. Ram tests fine. 1 gig.

3. I tell him I think Norton virus is bad. He sounds like he works for norton - "no there great!" ( a friends in my industry toldl me NEVER use norton, it conflicts with my editing stuff)

4. go home - i download hard drive tester. hard Disk is fine! ( Ug, that gut feeling another microsoft trained employee is a worth....... dufus...)

5. Today.....System seems better - for what reason?? just testing ram?? Just testing hard drive?

6. get norton off - try other virus apps.

7 today. things SEEM better. 5 crashes an hour down to 1 or 2. Until trying to post to you guys.

How do I diagnose these crashes with accuracy? What can I do
please?

How do I keep an fresh install from going bad in 24 hours?

Is there anyway for me to get a stable system to do some work ever? Suggestions?

thanks

Beth

It sounds like a hardware issue

Try unhooking everything from your PC including printer and any usb devices except keyboard, mouse, and monitor

Are you using any devices now that you have in the other systems like printers, network cards, web cams, usb devices etc

The same with software, are you using any software that you installed on the other systems
I agree about Norton ( not a big fan of Norton)

Everyone has some bad streaks but looking at what was added to the systems is usually where you'll find the problem.

Did these issues occur before or after (if) you installed any certain applications.
Possibly some sort of conflict with a video editing software or perhaps with any video recording cameras etc you may be using?

Maybe uninstall those apps, run with XP for awhile, see if the blue screen occurs again.

............well I use usb to connect to an external hd. I rotate between using it and not. Sometimes big transfer between drives
go fine. Other times not.

.............Brand new install of Eset Nod 32 trial hangs, halfway
through test of external drive.

Are you using any devices now that you have in the other systems like printers, network cards, web cams, usb devices etc

................. the onboard 1394 port doesnt work from near
beginning on this laptop, So I had used a compac 1394 card
in slot - which worked pretty well. Out now. and new install
of windows.

The same with software, are you using any software that you installed on the other systems

..............norton comes preinstalled on the D image drive.
I uninstalled today. It wont even uninstall! A known bug.
so you have to get all this norton documents to uninstall it.

.............says to install microsoft 56 script for reinstall. I added
the script just now.

Everyone has some bad streaks but looking at what was added to the systems is usually where you'll find the problem.

.............this is a new windows home install , as of yesteryday.

( recovered to D image drive)

..............well the blue screens started about 3 weeks ago,
> Lots of programs - over 100 - on then. basically less than 5 on now.

Possibly some sort of conflict with a video editing software or perhaps with any video recording cameras etc you may be using?

...............bare bones now. small apps like winrar, winzip,
Opera 754 , just get started stuff now.

Maybe uninstall those apps, run with XP for awhile, see if the blue screen occurs again.

................Nothing to uninstall really.

What are you doing when you the blue screens occur?

Are the errors happening when the external drive is attached or disconnected?

Did you install any programs to the external drive?

what external hard drive are you using?

Have you updated the drivers for the external drive?

go into the control Panel > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager.

Look in here and see if any of the hardware (usb or otherwise) is listed. Right click and uninstall any driver XP may have loaded.

Also look for any other hardware that may have a yellow ! . Its possible you could have an incorrect driver installed for a network card or other.
