Thumbs up MAJOR problems with Windows XP

Hi, i have a huge problem. Right now i'm using a double boot: Windows XP Korean, and Windows 2000 english. I only use Windows XP... but recently I visited a Kazaa site and ever since then, my explorer's messed up. Everytime I open a new window all these ads pop up and even when I try to "x" them they won't go away. It screws everything up. I've tried an ad blocker, I've tried a virus scan, I've tried erasing anything that might've downloaded itself onto the system, but nothing seems to work. So then I started using Windows 2000 but something's happened there too.
This is what I want to do: I want to refresh/reinstall Windows XP (I can't remember the word you use for this haha) and I want to erase Windows 2000 from the double boot. I have both CD's but I'm afraid to do it just incase anything goes wrong. First of all, the Windows XP CD is in Korean and I don't know what to choose... and also, I'd like to keep files stored in my F drive but resfresh everything else. I hope you're able to give me step by step instructions because if I have to call a technician it'll cost me too much!
PLEASE HELP it's driving me insane. thank you so much

Welcome to this forum with your first post.

That would be one reason not to use Kazza again , I guess your issue could be solved with a good pest remover such as Spy Sweeper (get the free version from here: http://www.webroot.com/products/spys...648&ac=adw02ss )

But if you insist to install a clean version of Windows XP then I would suggest you to get the instruction from one of these sites... I really don't have the time to type it all in and I might forget a step of two ..... in either case good luck

If you re-install xp, you could have the same problem after 10mins online!. Here's what i would do:
Install, AVG anti virus (Free edition), Sygate personal firewall (Free edition), ad-aware, Spybot search and destroy and Spyware blaster. After installing them, update them all and THEN run them all in turn.
I would also erase all temporary internet files including history and definatley all cookies.
If all this fails, you could always go the route of turning off system restore as trojans can hide in the restore points. Before doing this you should know that you will have no way of restoring your pc to an earlier setting as all the restore points will be erased!
