avi - codec problem

I want to play an avi file but when MediaPlayer tries to load it the status bar at the bottom of the player states a codec download is occuring and then I get a codec error.

All other avi files play OK. Does anyone know what might be going wrong?

Do you have to pay a subscription to download Divx?

Only to encode using divx, to play divx movies you don't have to pay, although the adware program GAIN comes with it so make sure you disable that when you install it.

If you havn't got divx that's probably the problem.
