How Can You Check Internet Connection Speed?

I'm not sure if its a question for this forum but Aol can't help me any further.

Im using windows xp home with Aol 9.0 Broadband. Untill recently the download speed on this computer has gone really slow to the speed of dial up even though its broadband. (I found this out by downloading some programs)

I suspect that someone has been fiddling with this computer (no doubt my spitefull bro) to make the speed slower...

..N E body know how to check the speed of the connection and put it up etc if it is slow
