Windows XP reinstallation problem

(xp home)

I decided to do a full format of my hard drive and reinstall of windows XP home. Everything seemed to be fine, until I restarted my computer. When i switch my comp on, I am given the option to choose one of two windows XP home edition operating systems. pressing enter on the first one is the new install, and I would go into windows normally. However, if i press enter on the second, I recieved the following warning message:

windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. Please check the windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.

Obviously, what I would like to happen is for the computer, when turned on, to boot straight into windows without having to select a boot path. Can anybody help?

Many Thanks.

Don't worry people issue has been sorted using msconfig and checking the Boot path by pressing Check All Boot Paths. Windows identified an invalid boot path and gave me the option to remove the path. I removed it and then on reboot loaded windows as normal.

If only everything was this easy!

And if you look closely you may find you now have two windows XP's on your computer. A common problem with reinstalling. Check fdisk and see if you have a extra partition now.

This is how to do a Clean Install of Windows, look in the left pane and you will see instructions on a format. http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html

This is a list of languages supported by XP http://support.microsoft.com/default...22120121120120

hope this helps
