Win XP wonīt load AFTER installing SP 2

Hi!

Installed SP 2 from microsoft update. Also tried once from SP2-cd.

Each time SP2 is installed without any problems, non reported anyway.

After rebooting windows loads until the "win xp home edition" screen, and the bar that indicated loading stops after a few second.

Waited 15 min but nothing happends!

Try to reboot again, and tried -every- available option, safe mode with etc etc..
I tried "use last functional settings" first!

Same problem, although the windows xp home edition and the bar isnīt showing in some safe modes.

Tried booting-discs....

Repair-option.. booted again, same problem, again.

I have reinstalled windows xp three times now (tried to install SP 2 two times)

MY QUESTION: Have other people met this problem
and does anyone know how to fix it?

I have a 2.8 ghz P4, Asus motherboard... nothing out of the ordinary as far as I know...

Please help if you know some information!

Best regards

Check the MS website for this. Apparently you're not the only person with this problem.

Personally, the best advice that I can give you is to do a new install of Windows, but leave the file system in tact (i.e. NO FORMAT).

This will get you a new copy of Windows that you can then access to get at and backup all your files.

Once you've backed up all your files do a clean install (format this time), and then reinstall everything. From this point on, DO NOT INSTALL SP2.

If you do a little bit of reading on this forum and others, you'll find that SP2 has caused a lot of headaches with a lot of users.

I personally found that it screwed up my wireless connections, and it didn't really add all that much to the rest of my system, except for another 700 megs of stuff.... I still don't know what it was.

Hope all goes well.
