fonts in XP

I have loaded a new halloween theme into my pc and it has screwed up my fonts. I have removed the theme but... it has taken away all my original windows fonts and when I change the fonts used for my pc it defaults back to this terrible font. When i add a new font to my fonts folder, as soon as i shut off my pc and start it back up the new font is gone. could something have happened to my registry?

please help!
