Windows XP SP2 is killing my boot up

I recently installed SP2, and I don't have any problem with it other than the fact that my machine seems to take about 10 times as long to boot as it did prior. I have tried all of the suggestions I could find online (ie. clearing temp files, getting rid of spyware), nothing seems to be helping. I even removed all items from Startup which were not essential. No dice. This is the second time I have tried this update and I followed all preinstall instructions. I'm running a Pentium 4, HP Pavilion using Windows XP Home. Has anyone else run into this? Is there any fix short of simply removing SP2?

hmm, dont remove sp2..it fixes lots of errors.

what u wanna do is go to start>run>msconfig

go to startup, disable all
next..
go to
start>control panel>winows firewall
turn the firewall OFF! this is just not necassary, i notied when i turn off my firewall..my startup was faster

now go to http://www.blackviper.com and disable services that this guy tells u to disable..
to get to services go to start>run>services.msc
i disabled these services and my computer runs muuuuch smoother

alerter
clipbook
error reporting service
performance logs and alerts
help and support
indexing service
messenger

by doing all this, it SHOULD help speed up your system, remeber to go to blackviper.com and disable other services that he recommends..

and also..Visit my new website please
my forums are for computer support so plz stop by anytime

It's about 7 minutes from power up to completion of load. But that's after taking as much as I could out of the startup.
