Desktop Notepad pops up upon restart

Greetings,

Lately, every time I'm rebooting I'm getting the screen Desktop-Notepad popping up with this content:

[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell 32.dll,-21787

I'm pretty sure it's a leftover of the many adware/spyware cleanups I had to do. I can close it and continue, but . . . it's annoying!

Any suggestions on how I can get rid of this "pest"?

Go to 'run' in the start menu, and type 'msconfig' without the quotes.

Then click on the startup tag, and deselect the file that is coming up on startup.

I tried your suggestion. There was no entry that pointed to "Desktop - Notepad".

I still have that problem . . .

Try deselecting everything at startup, then if it doesn't come up you have to go through a process of elimination by re-enabling each startup item until you find the one that is causing the problem.

If it still comes up after deselecting every startup item then I suggest going through these solutions on google.
