new critical M$ updates and SP1

I am presently running Windows "xp" SP 1, biding my time before I do the download of SP 2, letting my comrades at work sort out their issues before I take the plunge.
What I am wondering is if the (5) critical updates that show up when i do a "custom" review of windows updates are for my present system or are they only for SP2. I saw in another forum that there were 7 patches and some moderate patches required.

On my system it shows
KB841533
KB840987
KB873376
KB841356
KB834707.....these are all critical, but I don't know if it is for SP1 and what about the other 2 that were mentioned in another forum advising that there were 7 critical updates in Total. Also I don't know about the moderate patches.
I would really appreciate your comments, as I do not want to compromise a system that is running fine right now.
I am a novice to your Forums and look forward to gleaning a lot of useful information from your site.
I am also a novice at computers having gone from DOS when my computer crashed in the year 2000 to now owning a toshiba notebook pentium 4, 512 kb, and mobile processor.
I look forward to experienced responses. Thankyou

Windows Update website will only list critical updates relevant to your version of XP. In any event, all MS updates & patches have 'intelligent' installers which won't install unless you have the correct Windows version for that particular update (that is to say, the original Windows XP, XP with SP1, or XP with SP2).
