Network Access

Have 2 XP SP2 pro laptops that can access internet and email but not Server or other workstations. Machines are getting valid IP's have tried both Static and Dynamic, can ping server with reply. Both are running with Microsoft Client for Networks, does not matter if File and Print sharing are on or off, and of course TCP/IP. Network runs on a Workgroup, and Workgroup name is identical to other machines. Have tried removing all network pieces from Network Properties, and also have removed Nic from Device manager, reloaded all with same results?
