Angry All Files Read Only, help!!

Long story short, had to reinstall windows xp on the original hard drive that came with my computer, 40 gig. Still have old files, programs, etc on my new hard drive, which is now a slave.

Problem is this, all folders appear to be read only on both drives. I can save new information to the drives, but can't move files or folders around. All folders have a box indicating some files are read only, but when I check the files, the files are all fine. I don't get it and have never come across this before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can provide the long story if anyone is interested in the gruesome details...

Oh and the error message is as follows...

"Cannot copy <filename>: Access is denied.

Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected
and that the file is not currently in use."

All folders in Windows XP have the Read Only attribute. They have it for reasons known only to Microsoft programmers and it's a meaningless setting.

Follow the instructions in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article, How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP to get access to your files and get rid of the error message.
