Sound Card Driver Help Please

hey ok brought computer of my mate for £20

reformated computer with windows xp home edition (my own disk did not come with the computer)

Installed all the windows updates

computer working fine but....

no sound

no sound card detected but there is a "multimedia audio controller" with a yellow quetion mark

heres my system specifications:

knowing me im probly missing somthing thats staring at me right in the face

i need a sound driver .. i think .. help please

It definitely has a sound card? It should detect it automatically in Windows if it's working properly. If it's not integrated on the motherboard, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it? You could also check on the site of the manufacturer of your PC or sound card (or motherboard, if integrated) for the driver. Even if it is integrated, but dead, you should still be able to add a new one in an expansion slot. They're relatively cheap.

These are the board drivers, audio is C-Media http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=K7S41GX&s=

Your audio plugs must be on the I/O plate for this driver to work, if you use an expansion slot then you have a Sound Card installed, see here, click the image to focus

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case

Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
