Whats the best software to burn to DVD RW?

Yes, me again but I am afraid that I am techinally years behind you lot on this forum ; )

I have got some home made movies that I want to put onto DVD - RW so that I can view them at my leisure on my dvd player.

I haven't got suitable software on my computer to burn to DVD's.

I have got a DVD RW in my computer which shows up as "DVDRW IDE1008" in device manager. Also when I open this drive it has got on it "DVD Dual 8x"

The DVD's that I am want to burn to are Memorex, DVD + RW, 4x RW and 4.7GB.

Whats the best software to burn with and where can I get it? (bearing in mind price as I'm skint ...lol)

Best Regards
Emma.

(Computer running on Windows Xp Home)

My digital camera saves them as Mpeg but I have also got some old vids on an old video camera which uses the format .avi as well.

Nero has the ability to do all of this and has some nice tools to make dvd menus and such. It is not cheap, but for the price and usability, you can not beat it with stand alone tools.

Yes u cannot beat the standalone tools....

I use Cucusoft which converts my media files into DVD format... (MPEG2)???? not sure on the format.

Then i use TMPGEnc DVD Authoring util.... you can create menus etc with this, it alos creates the VOB files for DVD players to read.
Then i use Nero to burn it

Thanks for the posts and I have downloaded Nero to burn and Cucusoft to convert which seems to work..

..but, when I am converting a 700mb movie with Cucusoft its going to take like 3 hours...is that right?

Sounds above average but it depends on the spec of your machine CPU and memory etc.
