Windows XP keep restarting

Hello.

One of my lab pcs cannot load the windows and it keeps restarting itself at the console. I was unable to load into the safe mode too.

Out of no choice, I decide to use the Recovery Console and overwrite ntldr, ntdetect.com and SAM files, also did a fixboot but nothing works. There isn't any error messages showing on the screen so I really don't know what is causing the problem.

I guessed I have no more choices left except to re-install the OS.

So here's the question.
Are there any ways I can extract all the work files from the harddisk before I reinstall?

Thanks.
Celine

Try going back to a good Restore point

Start the computer and then press the F8 key when Windows begins to start.
The Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
Use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.
If a boot menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP and then press ENTER. Windows XP restores the computer to the most recent restore point.
