Windows 9x, 2k, ME or XP : which one is best for PC gaming

hai guys out there...
first of all i'm so sorry if my english is suck...i just try my best then...

i really need expert opinions here on this topic coz i always had problems to run 3D games..
even after i installed the latest driver, my game still not running smoothly especially with high graphic setting(even sometime with medium setting)...
i still can play the game but it's not on its best performance...
i'm not sure whether my PC spec is low for the current new games...
but some people said my current OS is not suitable for PC Gaming...is that true?

for your information this is my PC spec:

OS Windows XP service pack 2
Pentium 4 1.7Ghz
I'm not sure bout my motherboard since it's HP based PC (Vectra VL420)
Maxtor ATA 40GB Hdisk
512 SDRAM
Asus V9520 Magic Geforce FX5200 8x (but my AGP slot only support 4x)
Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1

How about your Hard drive? What model is it?

Right click MY Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Now left click on the little plus sign next to "disk drives" This should tell you the model of HD you have.

As for which OS is best for games, I would say Windows XP.

In my opinion though, games are not best run on a computer. Games tend to clutter up the registery and leave a great big mess behind on Windows. This can cause system instability.

Why do you think Microsoft made the Xbox?

Use of English

It is quite incorrect and impolite to use this word "suck".

It has a lot of bad connotations.

Suckers grow on plants and drain them of energy by using their sap. Sap being the life "blood" of the plant.

In this, these particular suckers are thought of as parasites, as they feed on the host plant. Rose bushes often have sucker parasites as do many trees.

The same is true of some people. In particular they call the people of the host country, suckers, saps, shmucks, schlemiels and an entire range of derogatory names.

Certainly you would NOT want them living in YOUR country so you should NOT encourage them by emulating them.

The work suck also has an anti-Christian usage. Because the infant child breast-feeds from the Mother.

It also has a connotation with fellatio.

None of this is of God.

It is the work of satan, who is determined to fool you.

XP is at this point is considered to be a "good" if not great gaming O/S. 2000 works very well provided the game is compatible. 98 is well....................."don't go there"!

You have two main issues to deal with:

1- Your AGP 4X Vs. 8X

2- The video card FX 5200

Not much you can do about the first, but the second is a big problem. The 5200 is not a great card despite what you may think or (had hoped for) and will continue to let you down as games become more and more demanding. The card works well for general purposes and some lite gaming, but beyond that an "upgrade" is in order.

I have been evaluating cards over the past few weeks starting with a GForce 480 EL, FX5200. FX5600 (current) and as soon as it arrives an FX5700 U3.

When does anyone use these computers for work?

I have this uncanny feeling that someone, somewhere is thinking, "I'll teach you to play games with Me."
