Installation Problem

I use Windows XP Home Edition. Everytime I try to install something, I run into the same problem. The installation process will get underway and everything seems to be going fine, then all of a sudden it stops and basically "disappears", or goes back to the beginning. I dunno why in the world it is doing this. My brother once installed Roller Coaster Tycoon w/ no trouble, but ever since, we run into that same problem. The software we are trying to install is compatible, so that's the problem. Any help is greatly appr. This is really upsetting me, argh.

- Joanna

BTW, I am very sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Play_The_0dds- I do appr. you trying to help me, but since I haven't had trouble accessing the Windows Installer Service, I wonder if I should try that repair method. When I try to install something, it starts working fine, I get the Windows Installer Service, and the installing process seems to be going along just fine, then at some point, everything *poofs*, or I get taken back to the beginning of the installation.

Earlier I tried to install Paint Shop Pro 8, and once again, everything was going fine w/ the installation process, then at some point, it poofed. A friend of mine has actually helped me, and apparently PSP 8 did install, but the shortcuts were missing or in the wrong places.

Anyways, if you really think that repair method might help, I'll give it a try, I just don't have the same problem as it states there is all.

Sorry if I'm confusing, heh.

i understand your concern, the repair listed on that page repairs the installer program . your problem was a bit different, but the fix should be the same. i would suggest you do a on-line virus scan to double check and make sure it wasnt virus corruption that caused the issue in the first place.
