XP Pro Reboots After Splash Screen

I have XP Pro. It shutdown and tried to reboot. The splash screen appeared but it began the reboot sequence again. Rebooting into Safe Mode is useless. It hangs on a certain driver. Can't use Recovery Console to run chkdsk. Suggestions? I'm frustrated and considering buying Win2K.

Try booting from the Win XP CD and when ask what to do select repair. That should fix any missing or corrupted drivers (since u said that in safe mode the sys hangs on a certain driver.

Good Luck

In system properties you must be setup to reboot on a system crash. This is an option that can be unchecked, but you will need to get into the OS either through a normal boot or safe mode. If you cannot get into the OS either way, then try booting in step by step mode to determine which driver that loads is causing a crash. Hope this helps.
